The Birches at Ben Eoin Country Inn is our first entrepreneurial endeavor after careers in education, social work and government primarily in Prince Edward Island where we resided and brought up our four sons. We came to Cape Breton in 1996 after spending three years in Labrador. In undertaking this project we have committed ourselves to this Island and made it our home.

Our philosophy of service, both in accommodations and dining, is based on our own experiences when hosting family and friends and how we like to be treated when traveling. We have invested a lot of ourselves in the structure and interior of the Inn, from the original design of the building to the accessories we used for decorating each room.

Beginning with the seed of an idea to the reality of welcoming guests, we have been steadily supported and encouraged by our family, by our friends – both old and new, near and far – by the citizens of Ben Eoin and area as well as our advisors in construction, finance and tourism. At this stage in our development, the wisdom of our decision to build and operate the Inn is constantly affirmed by the positive response of those who visit and stay with us.
